Stormwater management
The Municipal Stormwater Regulation Program was developed in response to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) Phase II rules published in December 1999. The Department issued final stormwater rules on February 2, 2004, and four (4) NJPDES general permits authorizing stormwater discharges from Tier A municipalities, of which Waterford Township is included. The most recent version of the permit became effective on January 1, 2018. The permit governs all stormwater discharges generated throughout the municipality by regulating standards related to best management practices (BMPs) for new development, redevelopment, and existing development. A key component of the program is the municipality’s public education program, which aims to educate Township residents regarding what is being done and what they can do to help improve the quality of the Township’s waterbodies.
Attached herein for reference are the Township’s Municipal Stormwater Management Plan (MSWMP), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP), Stormwater Control Ordinance (SCO), and applicable municipal ordinances aimed towards improving water quality.
